National Honor Society (NHS) encourages students to give back to their community through volunteer work.
Members are required to complete a minimum of 20 service hours each year, which helps them build responsibility and set personal goals.
Senior Jessica Lininger says joining the NHS was a way to make a difference while spending time with friends. She sees it as a chance to do good for others and have fun at the same time.
“Balancing NHS with school and other activities, such as theater and robotics, isn’t too difficult because some volunteer opportunities overlap,” said Lininger.
Senior Kayla Wood joined NHS inspired by her parent’s volunteer work and a desire to help others.
“NHS opened the unity of volunteering for me, so I gained many different opportunities. I love meeting new people and making an actual impact on our community,” Wood said.
Both Wood and Lininger agree that NHS offers students a meaningful way to grow as leaders while serving their community.
