Ms. Emily Shipley joined the science department in January, bringing a new perspective to the classrooms.
She graduated from Lakeview School and Western Michigan University to become a pre-med student.
“I worked in a hospital for a while, and worked in some other careers, and then decided that I wanted to teach,” said Shipley.
While she enjoyed helping people and working in the hospital, it wasn’t as fulfilling for her as she would have liked, she went back to school.
“I felt like teaching biology, specifically, because I love biology and human body systems. I was a pre-med student because of that.”
She loved learning and educating people,so she decided to get a degree that would help her achieve those goals; becoming a biology teacher.
“I knew that I wanted to always be with and help people,” Shipley said. “So this was a perfect way to be able to help young people learn and to teach them and to help them grow as people.”
