Eight new teachers joined Lakeview this year, among them was social studies and English teacher, Mr. John Ryan. With experience gained in Kalamazoo, Ryan plans to continue his teaching career at Lakeview, looking forward to continued professional growth.
After graduating from Lakeview High School, Ryan went to Western Michigan University for advertising and teaching degrees.
“That’s my first degree. I lived in New York and was writing ads for an advertising agency for about two years,” Ryan said.
While in New York, he started working with some teachers on the side and heard about teaching. He thought I would be fun, so he started working with some students before deciding to become a teacher.
“I wanted to work at Lakeview every year, and for the past four years, I applied to work at Lakeview and so now I’ve finally got the chance to work here,” Ryan said.
With his first year at Lakeview almost done, he has enjoyed his overall experience teaching English and history.
“I think working here is the best job I’ve ever had. I love being here every day. It’s so nice to meet 100 new people every three months.” said Ryan.
